4th of July Extravaganza

Wow! What an amazing day! This was definitely a 4th of July for the books!

The day started out in Carrboro with their annual Community 4th of July Celebration which consist of a 4th of July costume contest, a parade, live music, games for the kids, free watermelon and lots more.

Uncle Sam was even there!

Bagpipe players led the parade from Weaver Street Market to the Farmer's Market where the festivities were held.

We met up with my friend Sherry and her adorable son Dakota in Carrboro.

Dakota was so cute scooting around on his little bike.

While walking around in Carrboro, Adam heard an announcement for a pie eating contest and decided he would enter. There were 11 contestants in the 18 and over division. The first person to finish a whole pie with their hands behind their back won. Here are some pictures of Adam dominating that strawberry pie!

He came in 2nd place only losing to a very heavy set man, so I'd say that's pretty good for his first competitive eating contest. Next year: Nathan's!

What was left of his pie when the winner was called.

We ended the day at Koka Booth Amphitheatre in Cary for a performance by the North Carolina Symphony and an amazing fireworks show over the lake.

We met up with our friends Kevin and Nicole who scored us awesome seats on the lawn!

The Symphony setting up at Koka Booth.

We had a great time!

Check out the fireworks from tonight! (This is just a small snippet.)
